Piedmont Heart of Blairsville

Dr. Kandzari is the Chief of the Piedmont Heart Institute and Cardiovascular Service Line; Director, Interventional Cardiology of the Piedmont Heart Institute; and Chief Scientific Officer for Piedmont Healthcare in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Kandzari specializes in cardiovascular disease, peripheral arterial disease and interventional cardiology.

Board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and its subspecialty Board of Cardiovascular Disease and Board of Interventional Cardiology, Dr. Kandzari has held national and international leadership roles in clinical trials in cardiovascular disease and has participated in national and international program committees in cardiology. He has authored and coauthored more than 350 studies, book chapters and scientific reviews, and has delivered more than 750 lectures, both nationally and internationally, on a variety of issues related to both interventional and general cardiology. Dr. Kandzari has been consecutively voted as one of Atlanta's Top Doctors by Atlanta Magazine from 2011 to 2020 and is peer-nominated in the top 1% of cardiologists by U.S News and World Report.

Michael Hoosien, MD MSc, received his medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He continued his training with an internal medicine residency at the University of Miami and Jackson Memorial Hospital, a post-doctoral fellowship in molecular cardiology at the Miller School of Medicine, followed by fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and cardiac electrophysiology at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. He also holds a masters degree in biotechnology and bioinformatics from Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Hoosien is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases. He is bilingual and fluent in both English and German.

Dr. Hoosien treats patients with cardiac arrhythmias. He has a special interest in catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation, management of supraventricular and ventricular tachycardia, and cardiac resynchronization therapy.

In his spare time, Dr. Hoosien enjoys reading, cooking, traveling, and art.

Mark Gibson, M.D. earned his undergraduate degree from The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina and earned his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, South Carolina. He completed his residency from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He completed his fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. Prior to joining Piedmont Heart of Blairsville, Dr. Gibson served in the United States Air Force as Chief of Cardiology at Scott Medical Center at Scott AFB, Illinois. After completing his military service, Dr. Gibson practiced at Southern Tennessee Heart & Vascular in Winchester, Tennessee. He is board certified in Cardiology and fully trained in Clinical & Invasive Cardiology, Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology. He is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the Society of Air Force Physicians, and American College of Physicians. He has written two books and in his spare time, Dr. Gibson enjoys travel, golf and fly fishing. Additionally, he loves fine wines. Having spent his childhood in the foothills of the Appalachians, Dr. Gibson's move to Blairsville represents something of a return to his roots. Steven Sigman, M.D. earned his undergraduate degree from Ohio State University and his medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio. He subsequently completed a medical residency and cardiology fellowships at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia and Emory respectively. Following that he served as chief resident at Grady Memorial Hospital. Prior to joining Piedmont Heart Institute in 2009, Dr. Sigman was assistant professor of medicine (cardiology) at Emory University. Dr. Sigman is currently board certified in both cardiovascular diseases and nuclear cardiology. He currently serves as the Director of Nuclear Cardiology for Piedmont Hospital and the Piedmont Heart Institute. He also serves as a cardiology consultant both in the office and at Piedmont Hospital. His interests include diagnosis and management of coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, vascular disease, and cardiac manifestations of complex medical conditions. Dr. Sigman is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, and the America Society of Nuclear Cardiology. He has authored or co-authored several publications and abstracts and frequently lectures on the topic of cardiac imaging. He lives in Atlanta with his wife, Carolyn H. Sigman M.D., and his 5 children.

Dr. Charles Larry Campbell received his medical degree from Michigan State University.
He then completed his internal medicine residency and chief residency at Kessler Medical Center. Dr. Campbell completed his fellowship in cardiovascular disease while serving as staff cardiologist at Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. Dr. Campbell published numerous scholarly articles in medical journals and was a professor at University of Kentucky and University of Tennessee. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases and heart and advanced heart failure. Dr. Campbell is a member of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), Pulmonary Hypertension Society, American Society of Echocardiography, Lung Transplant Society and the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation.

Dr. Campbell treats a wide spectrum of cardiovascular diseases with a special focus in general cardiology and heart failure. Dr. Campbell is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases and advanced heart failure. He also holds additional certifications in echocardiography from the National Board of Echocardiography.

Dr. Ross earned his medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. He completed his residency in general surgery at Vanderbilt University and then went on to complete a vascular surgery fellowship at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. Immediately prior to joining Piedmont Heart Institute, Dr. Ross served as an Associate Professor of Surgery and Chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapeutics School of Medicine at the University of Louisville. He was also on staff at Norton Hospital and Jewish Hospital, both located in Louisville, Kentucky. Dr. Ross is board-certified in vascular surgery. He is a Fellow of the American Heart Association (Stroke Council) and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Ross is also a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the Southern Association for Vascular Surgery and the Society for Vascular Surgery. Dr. Ross has a long standing interest and experience with minimally-invasive and endovascular approaches to vascular problems as well as standard operative approaches, seeking the best solution for long term success for each individual patient. He has participated in multiple clinical trials and registries, and he has been a speaker at numerous symposia and meetings.

Dr. Robert Cole, MD, FHFSA, is an advanced heart failure and cardiac transplant cardiologist with the Samsky Advanced Heart Failure Center.

Dr. Cole received his medical degree and completed his cardiology residency and advanced heart failure fellowship at Emory University. He specializes in the treatment of heart failure patients who may require advanced therapies, mechanical circulatory support and/or transplantation.

In his spare time, Dr. Cole enjoys exercise, all things sports, a great meal, and spending time with his daughters.
