Dr. Nelson earned his bachelor’s degree from Presbyterian College in 1996. He graduated from the Medical College of Georgia in 2000. Dr. Nelson went on to complete a combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency at the University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati’s Children’s Hospital in 2004.
Dr. Nelson is double board certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. He has been in practice with his friend, Dr. Baker, for 16 years.
Dr. Nelson has been practicing medicine for 16 years. Prior to joining Piedmont, he worked as an employed physician with Athens Regional Medical Center.
He has been in practice with his friend, Dr. Matthew Baker, for 16 years.
Dr. Baker earned his undergraduate degree from UGA. He attended medical school at the Medical College of Georgia. He then trained and is board certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. He trained in pediatrics at Columbus Children's Hospital in Columbus, OH. His internal medicine training was completed at Ohio State University Medical Center. After training, he moved to Athens, GA and has been practicing for 16 years. In his spare time, he enjoys golf, fishing, trail running, and cheering on the Dawgs. He is married to his beautiful wife, Nancy, and has 2 sons.
