Chad E. Miller, M.D., earned undergraduate degrees in biology and philosophy from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He completed his medical degree at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham. He did his internal medicine residency and his pulmonary and critical care fellowship training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, during which he also did additional subspecialty training in pulmonary hypertension and echocardiography. Prior to joining Piedmont Physicians, Dr. Miller was in practice with Georgia Lung Associates. He holds board certifications in critical care medicine, pulmonary disease, and internal medicine. Dr. Miller specializes in the diagnosis and management of patients with pulmonary hypertension and pulmonary vascular disease. He personally evaluates his patients' echocardiograms, performs right heart catheterizations, and he emphasizes the importance of his involvement in these and all aspects of patient care. Dr. Miller is the Director of the Pulmonary Hypertension program at Piedmont Physicians Georgia Lung. He serves as principle investigator for research studies of novel therapies for pulmonary hypertension at Piedmont. In his spare time, Dr. Miller enjoys music, travel, and scuba diving. Susan M. Mucha, M.D. was born and raised in Augusta, Georgia and received her medical degree from the Medical University of the Americas in Nevis, West Indies. She completed her residency at Stamford Hospital where she earned the Alfred W. Wolfsohn, M.D. Award for Excellence in Clinical Medicine. Dr. Mucha completed her fellowship in Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA and her fellowship in Sleep Medicine at Emory University. She holds board certifications in critical care medicine, pulmonary disease, sleep medicine, and internal medicine. Dr. Mucha has presented at national meetings and has published in medical journals. She is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Mucha is fluent in Spanish and French.

Dr. Mucha specializes in pulmonary disease, critical care and sleep medicine. She treats patients ages 16 and older. She has a special interest in obstructive sleep apnea and narcolepsy.

In her spare time, Dr. Mucha enjoys traveling, playing the piano, attending concerts, spending time with family and her rescue dog, and honing her skills as a blossoming foodie.

Matthew Schmitt, M.D. received his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine. He went on to complete his internal medicine internship and residency at Orlando Regional Medical Center in Orlando, Florida, where he also served as chief resident. He achieved his fellowships in pulmonary disease and sleep medicine from Norwalk Hospital affiliated with Yale School of Medicine in Norwalk, Connecticut. He completed his fellowship in critical care medicine in New Haven, CT from the Yale School of Medicine. Dr. Schmitt has published numerous scholarly articles in medical journals. He holds board certifications in internal medicine, pulmonary disease, and critical care medicine.

Dr. Schmitt treats pulmonary and sleep medicine patients and provides intensive care coverage at Piedmont Atlanta. He has a special interest in COPD, obstructive sleep apnea, and central sleep apnea.

In his spare time, Dr. Schmitt enjoys spending time with his family, outdoor activities, and traveling.

Amy Hajari Case, M.D., FCCP, received her undergraduate degree from Birmingham-Southern College and earned her medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2005. She completed her internal medicine residency and pulmonary and critical care medicine fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Prior to joining Piedmont Physicians, Dr. Hajari Case was in practice with Georgia Lung Associates. She holds board certifications in critical care medicine, pulmonary disease and internal medicine. She is a member of the American Thoracic Society and a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians. Dr. Hajari Case specializes in the diagnosis and management of patients with interstitial lung diseases. She leads a monthly support group for patients with pulmonary fibrosis in Austell, and she is on the steering committee for the ACCP Interstitial and Diffuse Lung Disease NetWork. She is the Director of the Interstitial Lung Disease Program and Research department at Piedmont Physicians Georgia Lung. Dr. Hajari Case enjoys bringing her patients the opportunity to receive new medications and cutting edge treatments. She is also interested in medical education and leads a bi-monthly pulmonary and critical care journal club meeting. Ralitza T. Martin, M.D., earned her undergraduate and graduate degree from Universitat des Saarlandes School of Medicine in Homburg, Germany. She went on to do her Internal Medicine residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She then received her fellowship training for Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Emory University and Interventional Pulmonology at Duke University. During her pulmonary fellowship, Dr. Martin also earned her Masters of Science and Clinical Research at Emory University. Dr. Martin is board certified in Internal, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, as well as Interventional Pulmonology. She is also a member of the American Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology, the American Thoracic Society, the American College of Chest Physicians and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.

Her special interests include management of lung nodules, advanced bronchoscopy techniques, robotic bronchoscopy, and minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for patients with lung cancer and other thoracic malignancies, airway lesions, and pleural disorders.

Dr. Martin was the first physician in Georgia to perform Bronchoscopic Lung Volume Reduction. This is the first FDA-approved lung valve device to help emphysema patients breathe easier and regain daily activities without major surgery. In her spare time, Dr. Martin enjoys traveling around the world, spending time with her loved ones and being in the air.

Craig M. Patterson, M.D., completed his fellowship at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center and the Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans, La. During his post-graduate training, he was selected as the inaugural Russell C. Klein Visiting Fellow for the LSUHSC Global Pulmonary Exchange Program with Ege University in Izmir, Turkey. He previously completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and medical school at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He is a proud graduate of Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas and an Eagle Scout. Before joining Piedmont Physicians, Dr. Patterson was in practice with Georgia Lung Associates. He is board-certified in pulmonary disease, critical care medicine, and internal medicine. His professional interests include pulmonary hypertension, venous thromboembolic disease, and critical care medicine. He is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians and a participant in the ACCP's Pulmonary Vascular Disease One Network. Dr. Patterson enjoys cooking and travel. Paul Zolty, M.D., earned his medical degree from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. He completed his residency at the Mt. Sinai Medical Center. Prior to joining Piedmont Physicians Georgia Lung, Dr. Zolty was in practice with Georgia Lung Associates. He is a member of the American Sleep Disorders Association as well as the American College of Chest Physicians. He has special interests and expertise in all aspects of sleep medicine and pulmonary medicine. Dr. Zolty has particular and active interest and expertise in the following areas of sleep: sleep and cardiovascular disease, obstructive sleep apnea, and diseases and abnormal sleep behavior. Dr. Zolty is highly regarded by his colleagues and patients. He is described as having a great sense of humor and enjoys a good laugh with his patients. Alexander Gluzman, M.D., earned his medical degree from Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Ga. He completed his residency and pulmonary and criticalcare training at Emory University. He received his undergraduate degree from Emory University. Prior to joining Piedmont Physicians, Dr. Gluzman was in practice with Georgia Lung Associates. Dr. Gluzman has been practicing medicine for 10 years. He holdsboard certifications in critical care medicine, pulmonary disease and internal medicine. Dr. Gluzman specializes in advanced bronchoscopy techniques such as EBUS and electromagnetic navigational bronchoscopy. He will be providing intensive care coverage at Piedmont Atlanta, and is fluent in Russian. In his spare time, Dr. Gluzman enjoys spending time with family, reading and traveling. Jermaine M. Jackson, M.D., FCCP, graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of science in biology from Tennessee State University in Nashville. He earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis. He completed his residency in internal medicine and was subsequently chief resident at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Jackson completed his fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C. Prior to joining Piedmont Physicians, Dr. Jackson was in practice with Georgia Lung Associates. Dr. Jackson holds board certifications in critical care medicine, pulmonary medicine and internal medicine. He is a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine and a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians. Dr. Jackson's philosophy of medicine begins with empathy, compassion and competency. He adheres firmly to the belief that patients should always come first. His charisma and tenacity make him highly regarded by patients and colleagues alike. Coy Lassiter, M.D., graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of science in biology from the University of Georgia. He earned his medical degree from Mercer School of Medicine in Macon, Ga. He completed his residency in internal medicine, as well as his pulmonary and critical care fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine. He served as chief resident of internal medicine at Emory University Hospital from 2003 to 2004. Prior to joining Piedmont Physicians, Dr. Lassiter was in practice with Georgia Lung Associates and has been practicing medicine for 13 years. He holds board certifications in critical care medicine, pulmonary disease and internal medicine and has training in advanced bronchoscopy. He prides himself on being a well-rounded physician and maintains special interests in interventional bronchoscopy, lung cancer and pulmonary thromboembolism. Dr. Lassiter is considered to be warm and friendly and his fellow physicians describe him as having a great vision and leadership for the practice of medicine. C. Bryce Hartley II M.D., FCCP, earned his medical degree from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C. He completed his internal medicine residency at Tulane University Medical Center. His pulmonary residency and pulmonary and critical care medicine fellowships were completed at Georgetown University. He received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from the University of North Carolina. Prior to joining Piedmont Physicians, Dr. Hartley was in practice with Georgia Lung Associates. He is board certified in pulmonary medicine. Dr. Hartley has special interest in pleural disease, cough syndromes and airway disorders including asthma, COPD, bronchiectasis and bronchiolitis. James W. Chang, D.O., received his undergraduate degree from University of California, San Diego. He earned his medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Georgia Campus. He completed his internal medicine residency at Michigan State University and pulmonary and critical care medicine fellowship at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Chang is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary disease and critical care medicine. Dr. Chang has presented at national conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals. He is a member of the American Thoracic Society, American College of Chest Physicians and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.

Dr. Chang specializes in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine. He has special interests in asthma, COPD, bronchiectasis, lung nodules and lung cancer. He performs advanced bronchoscopy techniques such as endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) and electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy. He provides intensive care unit coverage and pulmonary consultations at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital.

In his spare time, Dr. Chang enjoys spending time with his family, traveling and sports.

Dr. Walker is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary disease, critical care medicine and pediatrics. He earned his medical degree from West Virginia University. He completed his internship and residency at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center, followed by a clinical fellowship at the University of Rochester. Dr. Walker is a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and the American Academy of Pediatrics, as well as a member of the American Thoracic Society. He has published numerous scientific articles in peer-reviewed medical journals.

Dr. Walker specializes in airway disease, especially bronchiectasis and cystic fibrosis. He is passionate about improving the quality of life in patients with these diseases.

In his spare time, Dr. Walker enjoys cooking, traveling, and trying in vain to stay in shape.
