Angelica M. De Lisa, M.D., earned her medical degree from Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla, Colombia, and completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. Prior to joining Piedmont, Dr. De Lisa practiced as a hospitalist at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, Tenn. She is board certified in internal medicine and a member of the American Medical Association and the American College of Physicians. Dr. De Lisa is fluent in both English and Spanish. In her spare time, Dr. De Lisa enjoys reading and spending time with her daughters and friends. Dr. De Lisa welcomes new patients and accepts most insurance plans. Dr. Marxer is board certified in both internal and geriatric medicine. He welcomes all patients. His motto is: "WELLNESS IS FITNESS." His philosophy is that incorporating the well documented and liberating realization into clinical practice improves chronic disease control, forestalls the effects of aging, and fosters a vibrant, active and independent life.. Before entering medical school, Dr. Marxer worked for two years as a science teacher with the Peace Corps in Morgoro, Tanzania, East Africa. He received his medical degree from the University of Michigan where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He trained in the New York City Hospital System affiliated with the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and served as Chief Medical Resident. His post residency training was as a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar at Columbia University. He has been on the medical faculty of Harvard and Emory Universities. He came to Atlanta in 1990 to establish a Geriatric Evaluation Program at the Wesley Woods Geriatric Hospital. He began private practice with his current partners in 1995, and they have been part of Piedmont Physicians at their current location since 2008. Dr. Marxer accepts new patients and accepts most insurance plans.
Dr. Marcus received his undergraduate degree from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, and his medical degree from State University of New York at Stony Brook. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Emory University affiliated hospitals and is board certified in internal medicine. He is a member of the American College of Physicians and is a member of the Piedmont Clinic Board of Directors. Dr. Marcus has been practicing medicine in the Atlanta area for over 20 years. Prior to joining the Piedmont Physicians Group, he was in private practice and served as the medical director at Mariner HealthCare of Northeast Atlanta. Dr. Marcus has been on staff at Piedmont Hospital since 1993. He has a special interest in preventive medicine and believes his role as a physician is to be a patient advocate. Dr. Marcus is married with two children. In his free time, he enjoys skiing, running, playing guitar, traveling and studying other languages. Dr. Marcus is accepting new patients, including Spanish-speaking patients, and welcomes most major insurance plans.
Dr. Artis is board-certified in internal medicine and received her medical degree from Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio. She completed her internship at the Medical University of South Carolina and her residency at Georgia Baptist Hospital, currently Atlanta Medical Center. Dr. Artis is a member of the Society of Internal Medicine, American Medical Association, and the American College of Physicians. Among her many interests in medicine, Dr. Artis takes a special interest in prevention and women's health. She believes her calling is keeping patients healthy- mind, body, and spirit. She loves helping people, and the gift of medicine is a bonus way to put forth that love. Dr. Artis is the eldest of a tight-knit family of eight and is very close with her family. Dr. Artis enjoys cooking and many sports and fitness activities, particularly jogging and tennis.
Ben Epstein, M.D., earned his medical degree from Tulane University in New Orleans. He completed his Family Medicine residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He received his undergraduate degree from Brown University. Prior to joining Piedmont Physicians, Dr. Epstein was in practice in Decatur, Georgia, and in North Carolina. Dr. Epstein is board certified in Family Medicine, and he also has a Certificate of Added Qualification in Geriatrics. In his spare time, Dr. Epstein enjoys hiking and the outdoors. Dr. Epstein welcomes new patients and accepts most insurance plans.
