Piedmont Physicians Gastroenterology located in Loganville specializes in advanced gastroenterology disorders involving the stomach, intestines, colon and rectum.
Dr. Parikh, a native of Atlanta, earned his undergraduate degree at Emory University and medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia. He then attended the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas where he completed a residency in internal medicine and fellowship in transplant hepatology. Dr. Parikh received his specialized gastroenterology training at Emory University. He is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology. Dr. Parikh has been practicing gastroenterology in the Atlanta community since 2015. More recently, he served as Assistant Professor of Medicine at Emory University. He presented on various GI topics, including viral hepatitis and colon cancer screening. He has been published in multiple peer reviewed journals and book chapters. Dr. Parikh specializes in upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube placement, capsule endoscopy, high resolution esophageal manometry, anorectal manometry, and management of chronic liver diseases, including hepatitis B and C therapy. In his spare time, Dr. Parikh enjoys spending time with his wife and two children and sports.

Tara Gulsby, NP, a native of Walton County, earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville in 2011. She completed her masters degree in nursing and family nurse practitioner program at Georgia Regent’s University in Augusta. She was inducted as a member of Sigma Theta Tau, a nursing honor society, in 2011 and is a recipient of the Margie Johnson community service award. She is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as a family nurse practitioner.
Prior to joining Piedmont, Tara began her medical career in 2011 as a registered nurse at St. Mary’s in Athens and later a nurse practitioner with Piedmont Gastroenterology in Athens. She joined AGA in Athens and worked with Dr. Mike West until his retirement in 2022. She is happy to be returning to her hometown and serving her local community.
Tara’s special interests include treatment and management of ulcerative colitis, Crohns, chronic liver diseases, and prevention of colon cancer. Tara offers treatment for various GI and liver diseases.
In her spare time, she and her husband, Eli, enjoy watching their two children play sports, traveling, and jogging. Tara is accepting new patients and welcomes most major insurance plans.
Holli Newton, PA-C, earned her Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant from South University in 2003 and completed a Masters in Physician Assistant Studies from Nebraska University Medical Center in 2004. She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and has been practicing medicine for 20 years. Holli has extensive experience and training in gastroenterology and hepatology. She started her career as a GI PA in Savannah and then worked in liver transplantation at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia and St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Holli most recently worked in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Athens Digestive Healthcare Associates and in Internal Medicine at St. Mary's Internal Medicine Associates. Holli offers management and treatment for numerous GI conditions to include liver disease, reflux, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and hemorrhoids.
