Dr. Kunkel earned her medical degree at Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. She then attended the Johns Hopkins Hospital where she completed her residency in Internal Medicine. She went on to complete fellowships in Cardiovascular Diseases, Interventional Cardiology, and Structural Interventions at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, as well as Complex, High-Risk Indicated Percutaneous Coronary Intervention and Advanced Hemodynamic Care at Henry Ford Hospital. She has a Masters in Medical Education which she earned at the Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, Interventional Cardiology, and Echocardiography.

Dr. Kunkel specializes in coronary artery disease, stable ischemic heart disease, complex percutaneous coronary intervention, chronic total occlusions, cardiogenic shock, and mechanical circulatory support. She is accepting new patients and welcomes most major insurance plans.

Her special interests include spending time hiking with her rescue dog, exploring new food, as well as cooking and trying new restaurants.

Dr. Prashant Kaul received his medical degree from the University of Cambridge, UK and completed postgraduate residency training in Internal Medicine at the Hammersmith and Royal Brompton Hospitals in London, UK before completing a second internal medicine residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York, NY. He completed fellowships in General Cardiology, Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging and Interventional Cardiology at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC. During his fellowship, he was the recipient of the Jess Peter award for the best Interventional cardiology fellow.Dr. Kaul is an interventional cardiologist with an interest in complex coronary and peripheral vascular interventions. He is the former Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory & Interventional Cardiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he also served as Medical Director of the Chest Pain Center and Director of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Training Program. He continues as an adjunct Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. His interests include the management of coronary artery disease and acute coronary syndromes, systems of care in primary PCI, trans-radial coronary angiography and complex interventions, chronic total occlusions, percutaneous ventricular support devices, peripheral endovascular interventions and quality and value based care. He has published numerous manuscripts, abstracts and book chapters and has served as the site principal investigator for multiple clinical trials. He has delivered more than 100 lectures on interventional cardiology topics both nationally and internationally and is a member of several national committees including the American College of Cardiology (ACC) Interventional Section Leadership Council. Dr. Kaul is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology.

Dr. William Ballard received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. He received his medical degree from the Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia in three years where he was president of his class and was honored with the Franklin Award for most outstanding student in the Department of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in medicine as well as his cardiology fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina where he was also bestowed with the Rosemond Award for Most Outstanding Cardiology Fellow. He then moved to Atlanta and began working for Piedmont Hospital in 1992. Dr. Ballard has authored and edited several scientific papers, participated in more than 100 multi-center research trials as an investigator and was one of the authors of national certification guidelines for interventional cardiac procedures for the ACC/AHA. He has been director of the Cardiac Cath Lab and Coronary Intervention at Piedmont for over a decade. He is also a member of the Institutional Review Board and is currently director of Inpatient Quality and Safety for the Piedmont Heart Institute, physician director of the STEMI program and is cardiology director of the Chest Pain Center and Network and Mission Lifeline for PHI. Dr. Ballard is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions and is a member of the American Heart Association and the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. He is also a clinical assistant professor of medicine at Georgia Health Sciences University.

Dr. Brown is board-certified in cardiovascular diseases, internal medicine, and interventional cardiology. Venkateshwar Polsani, M.D. earned his medical degree from Gandhi Medical College in India and then completed his internal medicine residency at Abington Memorial Hospital in Abington, Pennsylvania. Dr. Polsani did two years of research fellowship in Atherosclerosis and Vascular Medicine (clinical focus on preventive cardiology and Lipidology) at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX on an NIH student trainee grant. His cardiovascular fellowship was served at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Prior to joining Piedmont Heart, Dr. Polsani completed a multi-modality cardiovascular imaging fellowship with level III training in Cardiac MRI, Echocardiography and level II training in Cardiac CTA and Nuclear cardiology at Methodist DeBakey Heart and Vascular Center in Houston, Texas. Dr. Polsani is ABIM board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases. He is also Board certified in Cardiac CTA, nuclear cardiology and clinical lipidology. Dr. Polsani is a member of American college of cardiology (ACC), American Heart Association (AHA), American society of echocardiography (ASE), Society of cardiovascular magnetic resonance (SCMR) and national lipid association (NLA).

Dr. Polsani is the Chief of Cardiovascular Imaging Center of Excellence (COE) for Piedmont Healthcare and the Director of cardiovascular MRI and CTA for Piedmont Heart Institute.

Dr. Polsani’s research interests are in cardiovascular MRI, cardiac CTA and 3D-echocardiography and their specific applications in valvular heart disease, coronary artery disease and infiltrative cardiomyopathies.

Dr. Polsani joins Piedmont Heart with over 10 years of experience. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling to national parks and reading.

Dr. Kandzari specializes in cardiovascular disease, peripheral arterial disease and interventional cardiology.

Board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and its subspecialty Board of Cardiovascular Disease and Board of Interventional Cardiology, Dr. Kandzari has held national and international leadership roles in clinical trials in cardiovascular disease and has participated in national and international program committees in cardiology. He has authored and coauthored more than 350 studies, book chapters and scientific reviews, and has delivered more than 750 lectures, both nationally and internationally, on a variety of issues related to both interventional and general cardiology. Andrew J.P. Klein, M.D., FACC, FSCAI, earned his bachelor's degree from University of Notre Dame and his medical degree from MCP Hahnemann School of Medicine in Philadelphia. He completed his residency in internal medicine at University of California San Francisco. He then completed fellowships in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology at University of Colorado Health Sciences and a fellowship in clinical research at the University of Wisconsin.

Prior to joining Piedmont, Dr. Klein was in practice at the John Cochran VA Medical Center in St. Louis where he served as the Director of Cardiovascular Disease Research and the Director of the Endovascular Laboratory. While there, he was named for the last 3 years as one of St. Louis's Top Doctors by Saint Louis Magazine. Board certified in endovascular medicine, vascular medicine, interventional cardiology and cardiovascular diseases and internal medicine, Dr. Klein is an fellow of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Intervention.(SCAI). An expert in complex coronary and peripheral intervention, he is a member of several SCAI committees.

In his spare time, Dr. Klein enjoys spending time with family, including his spouse Christina Klein, M.D., who is a transplant physician at Piedmont, and their two beautiful children. Dr. Klein is an avid exercise fanatic having run several marathons and triathlons. He is also an outdoor enthusiast having backpacked across Joshua Tree National Park and summited Half Dome with Christina when they were residents together at UCSF. The entire Klein family are skiers and look forward to returning each year to the mountains for moguls, deep powder and glade skiing. Dr. Klein welcomes new patients and accepts most insurance plans.

Dr. Roshin Mathew received his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He then completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Rochester. Dr. Mathew achieved his fellowship in advanced cardiovascular imaging from the University of Virginia and his fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at Tulane University where he served as chief fellow. Dr. Mathew has published numerous scholarly articles in medical journals and is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases. He also has additional certifications in echocardiography and vascular interpretation (RPVI). He is a member of the American Heart Association, the American College of Cardiology, the American Medical Association, the Society of Cardiac Magnetic Resonance and the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography.

Dr. Mathew treats a wide spectrum of cardiovascular disease with a special focus in treatment and prevention of ischemic heart disease. He has a special interest in coronary microvascular dysfunction and ischemic heart disease.

In his spare time, Dr. Mathew enjoys traveling, biking, football, and spending time with his family.
