Amalia Marie Bonano-Rios, MD

Amalia M. Bonano-Rios, MD, earned her medical degree from Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara in Mexico and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the VA Caribbean Healthcare System in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where she served as Chief Resident. She received her undergraduate degree in Cellular & Molecular Biology from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus, and is board certified in Internal Medicine and board eligible in Medical Oncology and Hematology. She completed her fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at Memorial Healthcare System in Hollywood, Florida.

Dr. Bonano-Rios focuses on the care of patients with solid tumors, including breast and lung cancers, as well as high-risk and hereditary cancer syndromes. Her special interests include precision medicine, molecular oncology, immuno-oncology, integrating technology into oncology practice, and leading quality improvement initiatives. She provides treatments such as chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, endocrine therapy, and survivorship care.

In her free time, Dr. Bonano-Rios enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching history documentaries, and attending concerts and stand-up comedy shows.
