Anastasiya Shchatsko, M.D. is a colon and rectal surgeon. She is board-certified in general surgery and completed an advanced colorectal surgery fellowship.
Dr. Shchatsko treats various conditions including, but not limited to colon and rectal cancer, anal cancer, diverticular disease, inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), colorectal polyps and genetic polyposis syndromes, hemorrhoids, fecal incontinence, rectal prolapse, pelvic floor dysfunction, fistulas, fissures, and pilonidal disease.
Anastasiya Shchatsko, M.D. performs a wide range of open and minimally invasive abdominal, pelvic and anorectal surgeries, as well as colonoscopy. She focuses on minimally invasive robotic and laparoscopic approaches. She holds a certificate in robotic surgery from Intuitive. Dr. Shchatsko also performs Transanal Minimally Invasive Surgery (TAMIS) for rectal tumors, Sacral Nerve Stimulation (sacral neuromodulation) to treat fecal incontinence, and robotic ventral mesh rectopexy for rectal prolapse.
Dr. Shchatsko earned her medical degree from Belarusian State Medical University, the top medical school in Belarus. Her postgraduate medical training in the United States included three ACGME-accredited programs: a preliminary general surgery internship at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, followed by a categorical general surgery residency program at Central Michigan University, and a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at AdventHealth Orlando. She was honored with awards in her residency.
Dr. Shchatsko has been contributing to medical science for over a decade, both within the United States and abroad. Research papers she authored and co-authored have appeared in such journals as Diseases of the Colon & Rectum, The American Surgeon, Surgical innovation and others. Her scholarly work has been presented at several surgical conferences, including the Annual Meetings of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS) and Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). Dr. Shchatsko is passionate about video-based learning and serves on the committee for video-based assessment. She speaks English, Belarusian, and Russian languages.
In her spare time, Dr. Shchatsko enjoys hiking, kayaking, and spending time with her husband and daughter.
