Bonita Dozier, MD

Dr. Dozier grew up in Atlanta and earned a degree in Zoology from the University of Texas. She graduated from Morehouse School of Medicine, and received a number of awards including the Lange Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement, and membership in Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honors Society. Dr. Dozier completed her residency at Emory University's Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, where she was selected as Chief Administrative Resident, awarded First Place in Residential Research Day and named Emory University School of Medicine's Best Ob/Gyn Teaching Resident.

Dr. Dozier joined Peachtree Women's Specialists in 1997 and specializes in infertility treatment and minimally invasive gynecologic procedures. In 2002, she was the recipient of the William Waters, M.D. Award for clinical excellence. She has held many leadership positions at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital (PAH). From 2004-2006 she served as the Chief of Gynecology at PAH. She was the President of the Atlanta Obstetrical and Gynecological Society from 2006-2007. She served as the hospital's Chief of Obstetrics from 2006 to 2020. From 2020 to 2022, she was the Vice Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at PAH. She is the current Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as the Medical Director for the Department of Newborn and Women's Services at PAH. She held the position of Chairman for the Ob/Gyn Clinical Governance Council within the Piedmont Clinic from 2020-2024.

Dr. Dozier is a favorite of other physicians, and her patients benefit from her compassion and advanced surgical skills. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Arnie Mellits, M.D., their four children and two dogs. She's an exercise enthusiast who loves running, hiking and travel.
