Juan Carlos Salgado Campo, MD Pulmonology, Critical Care Medicine in Atlanta, GA

Dr. Juan C. Salgado is the Medical Director for Piedmont Advanced Lung Disease Center's Transplantation Program. He earned his medical degree from Universidad del Valle in Colombia. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Geisinger Medical Center, where he also served as Chief Medical Resident. He subsequently completed fellowships in Critical Care Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and Pulmonary Transplant Medicine/ extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Salgado joined Piedmont Atlanta Hospital as the Medical Director of Lung Transplantation, bringing over 20 years of experience in medicine.

Prior to joining Piedmont, Dr. Salgado served as the Critical Care Lead for the Lung Center and ECMO Medical Director at the Miami Transplant Institute at the University of Miami. He previously served as Director of Lung Transplantation Critical Care Operations and ECMO co-Medical Director at the Penn Transplant Institute and Medical Director of the Lung Transplantation Program at the University of Florida.

Dr. Salgado is board certified in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. His clinical interests include lung transplantation, particularly complex peri-operative care, ECMO, and advanced lung disease. He is passionate about improving patient outcomes, advancing multidisciplinary care, and expanding access to specialized lung transplant services.

Dr. Salgado enjoys traveling and trying new food in his free time. When not at work, he enjoys spending time with his dog, Pedro.

Dr. Salgado welcomes new patients and accepts most major insurance plans.
