Abdulhameed Aziz, MD, FACS, earned his medical degree and graduated AOA from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed his residency in General Surgery and fellowship in Vascular Surgery at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He has also completed research fellowships in cardiovascular surgery at Washington University in St. Louis and cardiovascular science at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. He received his undergraduate degree in Pre-medicine (B.S.) from the Pennsylvania State University graduating magna cum laude. Dr. Aziz is board certified in General Surgery and Vascular Surgery.

Immediately prior to joining Piedmont, Dr. Aziz practiced for ten years in Michigan, where he held roles including Site Medical Director of Vascular and Endovascular surgery at Trinity Health IHA in Ann Arbor and Vascular Surgery Quality Head for Trinity Health Ann Arbor.

Dr. Aziz has clinical interests in vascular and endovascular surgery, thoracic outlet syndrome, abdominal and thoracoabdominal aneurysm disease, spine exposure, carotid, brachiocephalic and upper extremity arterial disease, aortic reconstruction of aortoiliac disease, peripheral and mesenteric occlusive/aneurysmal disease, hemodialysis access and venous disease.

In his spare time, Dr. Aziz likes to read biographies, run, work on his hobby car, and spend time with his wife and 4 children.

Shailesh Malla, M.D. earned his medical degree from Tribhuyan University Institute of Medicine, the premier medical school in Nepal. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Jacobi Medical Center and his fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Montefiore Medical Center in the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York. Board certified in Cardiovascular Disease (ABIM), Nuclear Cardiology (CBNC) and Echocardiography (NBE), Dr. Malla brings over 10 years of experience to Piedmont Heart. Prior to joining Piedmont Heart, Dr. Malla was a clinical cardiologist with ACG. Dr. Malla is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology who specializes in invasive cardiology, general and consultative cardiology, trans-thoracic and transesophogeal echocardiography, nuclear stress testing and diagnostic cardiac catheterization. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a member of the American College of Physicians. He has been involved in several research projects in the areas of congestive heart failure and echocardiography and has published several articles in scientific journals. He is an instructor for ACLS as well. Dr. Malla is accepting new patients and welcomes most major insurance plans. Sandeep Goyal, MBBS, earned his medical degree from Maulana Azad Medical College in New Delhi, India. He completed his cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology fellowships at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tenn. His internal medicine residency was fulfilled at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and Boston University School of Medicine. Prior to joining Piedmont Heart, Dr. Goyal served as the Chief Clinical Fellow of cardiac electrophysiology at Vanderbilt. Dr. Goyal is board certified in internal medicine & cardiology. He is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Cardiology and the Heart Rhythm Society. Dr. Goyal provides full spectrum of electrophysiology services with special interest in comprehensive management of atrial fibrillation and laser lead extraction. Dr. Goyal welcomes new patients and accepts most insurance plans.

Gary C. Chan, D.O., Ph.D., earned his medical degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Brookwood Baptist Health and Cardiology Fellowship at University of Arizona in Tucson. He is board certified in Internal Medicine. In addition, Dr. Chan has 13 years of molecular cardiovascular research experience, and completed a Post-doctoral Research Fellowship at Harvard. He has expertise in treating coronary artery disease, chronic high blood pressure, cardiomyopathy, among other conditions.
