Piedmont Heart and Vascular of Rockdale

Kathryn Swanson, MD, RPVI was born and raised in Chicago, IL. Prior to joining Piedmont, Dr. Swanson completed an Integrated Vascular Surgery residency at Louisiana State University Health Science Center in New Orleans, LA.

Dr. Swanson specializes in vascular surgery and provides care for a broad range of vascular surgery pathology with both open and endovascular treatment approaches. She provides treatment for aortic disease, carotid artery disease, peripheral arterial disease, dialysis access, and superficial and deep venous disease.

Abdulhameed Aziz, MD, FACS, earned his medical degree and graduated AOA from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed his residency in General Surgery and fellowship in Vascular Surgery at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He has also completed research fellowships in cardiovascular surgery at Washington University in St. Louis and cardiovascular science at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. He received his undergraduate degree in Pre-medicine (B.S.) from the Pennsylvania State University graduating magna cum laude. Dr. Aziz is board certified in General Surgery and Vascular Surgery.

Immediately prior to joining Piedmont, Dr. Aziz practiced for ten years in Michigan, where he held roles including Site Medical Director of Vascular and Endovascular surgery at Trinity Health IHA in Ann Arbor and Vascular Surgery Quality Head for Trinity Health Ann Arbor.

Dr. Aziz has clinical interests in vascular and endovascular surgery, thoracic outlet syndrome, abdominal and thoracoabdominal aneurysm disease, spine exposure, carotid, brachiocephalic and upper extremity arterial disease, aortic reconstruction of aortoiliac disease, peripheral and mesenteric occlusive/aneurysmal disease, hemodialysis access and venous disease.

In his spare time, Dr. Aziz likes to read biographies, run, work on his hobby car, and spend time with his wife and 4 children.

Dr. Henry earned his medical degree from Morehouse School of Medicine and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology from Emory University. Throughout his academic career, he received several prestigious scholarships and research fellowships, including the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) Student Research Fellowship and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Medical Research Fellowship.

Before Piedmont, Dr. Henry completed his vascular residency at Albany Medical Center. Dr. Henry strives to keep patients and families informed during stressful medical situations. His clinical interests include minimally invasive vascular surgery, such as stents, endografts, and laser vein ablation. He also specializes in complex vascular cases and high-risk procedures, focusing on arterial balloon angioplasty and stent placement, endovascular aortic aneurysm repair, arterial insufficiency, varicose veins and symptomatic venous insufficiency, deep vein thrombosis, dialysis access placement, and carotid artery disease.
