James Muccio, MD, earned his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine & completed his residency at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He is board certified in Orthopedic Surgery & Sports Medicine.
Dr. Muccio specializes in sports-related injuries including fracture care, reconstructive & joint replacement surgery, & arthroscopy.
In his spare time, Dr. Muccio enjoys scuba diving, snow skiing, and golfing.

Dr. Schnars graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of science in Pharmacy from the University of Georgia in 1993. He then attended the Medical College of Georgia, where he earned his medical degree, finishing at the top of his class, and completed his surgical internship and orthopaedic residency. He is board certified in orthopaedic surgery and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery and Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. After completing his residency in 2002, he moved to Jasper to meet the growing orthopaedic needs of the North Georgia community. He treats a variety of musculoskeletal conditions and specializes in hip and knee replacement, as well as fracture care. Dr. Schnars believes in pursuing leading-edge technologies and offering an advanced approach to orthopaedic care to maximize results and minimize healing time. His mission is to provide the highest quality of orthopaedic care in a warm and personalized setting. Dr. Schnars is accepting new patients and welcomes most insurance plans.
Dr. Flint earned his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine. He completed internships in internal medicine and general surgery, and a residency in orthopaedic surgery at Emory University affiliated hospitals in Atlanta. He is board certified in orthopaedic surgery and is active in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons. Prior to joining Piedmont Physicians, Dr. Flint practiced for 18 years at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine, North Carolina, where he was chief of surgery for 15 years and the medical director of physical therapy. Dr. Flint is a native of Cherokee County. He graduated valedictorian from Cherokee High School and Phi Beta Kappa from Emory University with highest honors.When not working he enjoys woodworking, music and outdoor sports. Dr. Flint is accepting new patients and welcomes most major insurance plans.
Michael Watkins, PA-C is a certified physician assistant, licensed to practice in the state of Georgia. Michael has more than ten years experience as a physicians assistant. Prior to joining Piedmont Physicians Orthopedic Surgery, Michael worked in family medicine and orthopedic medicine in Ellijay, Georgia. Michael works closely with Dr. Flint in treating a variety of orthopedic conditions.
Brian Holcomb, M.D., received his medical degree from California College of Podiatric Medicine after completing his undergrad at Georgia State University. He then completed his medical residency at Atlanta Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Holcomb is certified in Diagnostic and Operative Ankle Arthroscopy. He is board certified in foot and ankle surgery and a diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. Dr. Holcomb welcomes new patients.
