David Poynter, M.D. received his medical degree from Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, which is where he also completed his internship and residency. Dr. Poynter went on to complete a sports medicine fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. He is board certified in family medicine and sports medicine and has been practicing in Walton County since 2013. Dr. Poynter currently serves as a team physician at multiple local high schools.
Dr. Poynter sees patients of all ages, including infants, adolescents, and adults. He has a special interest in sports medicine.
In his spare time, Dr. Poynter enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 children, playing golf, and watching UGA athletics.

Dr. Poynter was absolutely excellent, professional, good doctor-patient repor and communication. He addressed every concern I had and explained everything including treatment plans, pros and cons of it etc. Excellent physician, very knowledgeable but still able to break everything down clearly.

Always personable, patient with my explanations, understanding, realistic, and relatable. He seems genuinely concerned with my health and isn't condescending when communicating with me or indifferent to my concerns. Very refreshing approach, in my lifelong experience with various physicians and healthcare providers.

He is a very good Dr. He has time to listen, answer questions, reassure and search for answers to medical problems for me. He shares his extensive knowledge and makes you feel as if you're important and included in finding the solution to a health problem.
