Dr. Fru earned her medical degree and Ph.D. in Physiology from the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, GA. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center, Greenville, SC. She then pursued her fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the National Institutes of Health, where she was part of the Program in Reproductive and Adult Endocrinology. She received her undergraduate degree in Biology from Wesleyan College, Macon, GA, and holds board certifications in both General OB/GYN and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Dr. Fru has over nine years of experience in reproductive medicine. Prior to founding Muna Fertility in Atlanta, she served as Medical Director at Oma Fertility, Atlanta, and was an employed REI physician at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group, Columbia, SC. Earlier in her career, she established the first IVF program in Wilmington, NC, while serving as Director of REI at NHRMC. In founding Muna, she has created a safe space for marginalized populations to explore reproductive issues including endometriosis, fibroids, egg freezing and sperm freezing, recurrent pregnancy loss, diminished ovarian reserve and third-party reproduction (donors and surrogates). Outside of the office she is an avid gardener, wife and mother, activist for reproductive justice and a consummate educator and mentor. Dr. Fru has been published extensively, presented at national conferences, and has received numerous awards, including the Golden Apple Teaching Award and the Best New Investigator Award from the Society for Reproductive Investigation.
