Todd A. Schmidt, M.D., is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is an American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Fellow. Dr. Schmidt is fellowship trained in both shoulder surgery and sports medicine. His practice includes orthopaedic surgery with a special interest in sports medicine, shoulder, hip and knee disorders and arthritic joint reconstruction He is an innovator in the use of computer-assisted surgery in joint replacement and in the evaluation of hip disorders, and the use of arthroscopy to treat them. Prior to his founding role in OrthoAtlanta, Dr. Schmidt held leadership positions on the Board of Directors and Finance Committee for the Hughston Clinic. He also has served as the Board Chair and Finance Chair at OrthoAtlanta.

Dr. Schmidt is active in community athletic events, having served as a physician for the USA Olympic Sports Medicine Association and the Special Olympics. He also has served as the Medical Director for the LPGA, Chick-fil-A Charity Golf Championship and both the Peach Bowl and Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in multiple years. Dr. Schmidt also served as an associate team physician for the Atlanta Falcons. In addition, he continues his relationship as team physician for Union Grove High School and Strong Rock Christian School. Dr. Schmidt is a past Chief of Medical Staff at Piedmont Henry Hospital. He is on the board of the Georgia Orthopedic Society, and is a past president. He is also on the Board of Counselors of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) and serves on the governing board of Piedmont Henry Hospital.

Tracy E. Wimbush, M.D. is board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, with a subspecialty in Pain Medicine, and by the American Board of Pain Medicine. She also holds a board certification by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Wimbush provides pain management and nonsurgical orthopaedic care to patients, utilizing her training in nonsurgical pain management of musculoskeletal, neuromuscular and sports injuries. Dr. Wimbush's practice includes orthopaedic medicine, interventional spinal injections, electro diagnostic medicine, emergency medicine and physical medicine. She has special interest in treating difficult conditions such as fibromyalgia, post-herpetic neuralgia, and migraines. In addition to standard interventions for pain management, Dr. Wimbush also utilizes the assistance of ultrasound guidance for both diagnosis and therapeutic interventions. Dr. Wimbush's treatment philosophy is simple. For most patients, less pain means more life. Dr. Wimbush's goal is to help patients get their life back. Jake J. Porter, III, MD is a board eligible orthopedic surgeon. Dr. Porter is fellowship trained in foot and ankle surgery and provides orthopedic care to patients in the Stockbridge community. Dr. Porter’s specialties include comprehensive treatment options for foot and ankle conditions including foot and ankle arthroscopy, total ankle replacement (arthroplasty), Morton’s neuroma, bunions, hammertoes, flat foot reconstruction, hind foot fusion, plantar fasciitis, and Charcot foot. Dr. Porter also treats general orthopedic conditions, including sports injuries, fractures and dislocations as well as workers’ compensation injuries. He is especially interested in the mechanics of the human body and how it relates to patient care.

Timothy N. Ghattas, M.D. is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Ghattas is fellowship trained in sports medicine. His practice includes general orthopaedics with specialty training in sports medicine, knee, shoulder and ankle. Dr. Ghattas has a special interest in treating athletes, sports medicine, knee injuries, ACL reconstruction, shoulder instability, rotator cuff tears, ankle sports injuries, shoulder and ankle arthroscopy, and shoulder arthroplasty. Dr. Ghattas has been published twice in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and twice in the American Journal of Sports Medicine. Dr.Ghattas believes in treating all his patients as if they were his own family. He strives to build trust and to make his patients feel as comfortable as possible with their diagnosis and treatment plan.

Dr. Ghattas is currently the team physician for Clayton State University and for Eagles Landing, OLA and Woodland High Schools in Georgia. Dr. Ghattas has served as an assistant team physician for the Atlanta Falcons and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and has provided team coverage assistance to Wichita Thunder Minor League Hockey, Wichita Wild Indoor Football and Wichita State University Athletics teams. Dr. Ghattas served as a sideline physician during the 2015 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game, and was the physician for the Final Four in Atlanta, Georgia in 2013. In 2003, Dr. Ghattas participated in a medical mission trip in Belize, seeing patients via mobile health clinics.

Dr. Ghattas has made numerous presentations to area college and high school students and coaching staff on topics including Anatomy and Related Orthopaedic Injuries, Shoulder and Sports-related Orthopaedic Injuries, Upper Extremity Sports Injuries and the like. Tobias von Bergen, MD is a board eligible orthopedic surgeon, fellowship trained in hand and upper extremity surgery. Dr. von Bergen’s practice includes wrist, elbow, and shoulder arthroscopy and reconstruction, comprehensive care of adult and pediatric upper extremity injuries and ailments, fracture care, as well as work injuries. He has a special interest in advanced care for lost limbs, including targeted muscle reinnervation, regenerative peripheral nerve surgery and neuroma management.

Richard J. Bowles, MD, provides orthopedic care to patients in our McDonough and Stockbridge locations. His practice includes general orthopedics with a specialization in sports medicine. He has special interests in ACL reconstruction and complex knee surgery (including multiligamentous reconstruction and cartilage salvage/knee preservation) and advanced arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee.

Dr. Bowles graduated with honors from the University of Louisville and continued his education at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Louisville, Kentucky, after a career in engineering and business. After completing a general surgery internship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital) in Boston, Dr. Bowles completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Colorado in Denver. He completed his sports medicine fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. He is a team physician for the US Ski & Snowboard Team.
